Dancing With the Stars (ABC, Mondays and Tuesdays, 8 p.m. ET) announced its star-studded season 13 cast on Monday. And now the celebrities have their pro partners! The matches were revealed during a Wednesday morning announcement on Good Morning America.
What was notable about the pairings? Well, soccer star Hope Solo landed male fan favorite Maksim Chmerkovskiy. (Kirstie Alley got him last season.) But this wasn't a big surprise, since Chmerkovskiy basically requested her. And Robert Kardashian lucked out by getting the popular Cheryl Burke (a two-time DWTS champion).
Also worth noting: The reports last year that this season would feature a same-sex pair didn't pan out. The openly gay Carson Kressley will be boogieing down with Anna Trebunskaya. And Chaz Bono, who's a female-to-male transgender man (and Cher's offspring to boot), will take the dance floor with Lacey Schwimmer. Considering the mixed fan reaction to Bono's selection for the show, pairing him with a man probably would have been unwise.
Here are the rest of the celebrity-dancer duos that will make their debut during the season premiere on Sept. 19:
Courteney Cox's estranged husband David Arquette will team with Kym Johnson, who joined forces with football player Hines Ward to take home the mirror-ball trophy last season.
L.A. Lakers basketball player Ron Artest, who says his 8-year-old cancer-surviving daughter inspired him to do the show over playing basketball overseas during the NBA lockout, will team with Peta Murgatroyd.
George Clooney's ex Elisabetta Canalis will tango with Maksim's younger brother Val Chmerkovskiy.
Former Hills starlet Kristin Cavallari will dance with two-time champ Mark Ballas.
Controversial HLN anchor Nancy Grace is set to face the music with Irish pro Tristan McManus.
Queer Eye for the Straight Guy star Carson Kressley will bring style to the floor with pro Anna Trebunskaya.
Actress/talk-show host Ricki Lake will partner up with Derek Hough, who dirty-danced his way to the mirror-ball trophy with actress Jennifer Grey in season 11.
Iraq War veteran and All My Children actor J.R. Martinez is paired with pro Karina Smirnoff, who recently moonlighted as a Playboy model.
And former Wilson Phillips band member (and current Mrs. Billy Baldwin) Chynna Phillips will take to the dance floor with Tony Dovolani
