Mandy Moore Raises Awareness for World Malaria Day

Doing their part to help to raise awareness for a good cause, Mandy Moore was joined by NBA great Dikembe Mutombo to commemorate World Malaria Day in New York City on Monday (April 25).

The "Tangled" star and her sizable basketballer partner were on hand to help "Nothing But Nets" and "Roll Back Malaria" launch a new public service announcement on the famous Toshiba Vision screen in Times Square.

The PSA, which airs now through May 21, will deliver the message that anyone can become a champion in the fight to end malaria.

Just before the event, Mandy took to her blog to dish about its importance, writing, ?April 25th is World Malaria Day. Normally, we commemorate these days, in recognition of those suffering worldwide from diseases like malaria. This year, however, I?m part of a group celebrating the day instead and calling on others to do the same. I?m in New York with my organization PSI (Population Services International), and our partners at Nothing But Nets and Roll Back Malaria to celebrate thousands of ?Champions in the Fight Against Malaria? ? individual Champions who are helping to reduce the number of people dying every day from the disease."
