The year is not off to a good start for Jaime Pressly. TMZ reports that the former My Name is Earl star has been formally charged with driving under the influence as a result of her Jan. 6 arrest.
The 33-year-old actress was arrested last month on suspicion of drunk driving when she failed a field sobriety test after being pulled over for a traffic violation. She registered a blood alcohol level of 0.22, which is nearly three times the legal limit in California.
Then, just last week, Pressly filed for divorce from her husband of 16 months, entertainment lawyer Simran Singh, citing "irreconcilable differences" as the cause of the split. Although Pressly and Singh have no children together, the actress has one child, Dezi James Calvo, 3, from her previous relationship with DJ Eric Cubiche, whom she dated from 1996 to 2008.
Pressly is part of the alarming number of celebrities who’ve been busted for driving while intoxicated, including Lindsay Lohan and Paris Hilton. Both Lohan and Hilton were sentenced to jail time for their offenses. If convicted, Pressly could also face six months in county jail.
