In recent weeks, having some of your best dances and highest scores on Dancing With the Stars means the kiss of death in the competition. Both Florence Henderson and Audrina Patridge succumbed to elimination even though they weren?t the lowest scorers of the week and were coming off of successes, and this week the tradition continued with Rick Fox and partner Cheryl Burke?s shocking elimination.
With the couple receiving 37 points out of a possible 40 for their quick-step (plus an addition 24 points for their group dance), the couple tied second on the leaderboard with 61 out of a possible 70. Still, it was not enough to save them after the viewer votes revealed fellow competitors Bristol Palin and Kyle Massey (who both scored lower) would dance again next week.
?This is the most shocking elimination I have been through in ten seasons,? Cheryl said after the news. ?It just shows you that you really need to vote, as no one is safe.? ?It?s now happened with Florence and Audrina,? added Rick.
After proving to America that he could dance, Rick leaves the show a very different man, according to girlfriend Eliza Dushku, who tells In Touch,?I have seen him in make-up and eyeliner. He?s played every role, it?s like he is Dollhouse, every week he is someone else. On a personal level, there was a level of commitment and a perfectionist drive. We are a lot alike in that respect and that made me all the more proud of him. He worked so hard and I have seen a lot of new sides to him that I like.?
Rick and Cheryl are looking forward to dancing again at the show?s finale in November, but until then it?s family and a few business commitments that will be filling his time. ?I?m looking forward to going to see my daughter?s basketball games and swim meets,? laughs the family man.
