Marc Anthony is speaking out on his highly publicized split from Jennifer Lopez. And, contrary to the various rumors and tabloid articles, Anthony tells ABC News that their separation is due to nothing more scandalous than irreconcilable differences.
"I'll always love Jennifer," Anthony says in an exclusive interview with Nightline reporter John Quinones, airing Thursday night on ABC -- but that doesn't mean they were meant to be. "It was a realization on both our parts. So you know it wasn't shocking," he says. "These things happen. It was a decision that we made jointly."
When Quinones asks Anthony if adultery was to blame for the marriage's breakup, the Grammy winner replies, "absolutely not."
Although Anthony and Lopez, both 42, were spotted together in the Hamptons in early August, Anthony's rep has confirmed that they were just spending time as a family with their 3-year-old twins Emme and Max.
As long as J.Lo and the King of Salsa stay friendly for the sake of their kids, it sounds like things will be just fine. And, for the time being, fans should expect to keep seeing the relatively amicable exes together on occasion, like on the reality show, Q'Viva! The Chosen, they're producing together.
"This is not a funeral. This is not a burial," Anthony says of his divorce. "This is just two people who came together and just realized -- and so I'm saying that it wasn't sustainable the way it was, and that's that."
