Ellen DeGeneres and her wife, Portia de Rossi, love to cut the cheese! The couple are such strict vegans that any foods containing animal products are strictly off-limits.
In fact, Ellen and Portia, 38, are so serious about their special diet that when they ordered penne arrabiata at Madeo in West Hollywood on August 5, they skipped the parmesan. Instead, the couple came prepared with a faux version of the cheese made from soy. ?Ellen whipped out a shaker from her bag and Portia sprinkled it on their pasta,? dishes an eyewitness at the dinner. ?They seemed very concerned about making sure their meal was 100- percent vegan.?
Clearly embracing their healthy lifestyle, Ellen, 53, has at least admitted that nixing cheese was a challenge. ?It was hard,? she said. ?I loved cheese!?
