Madonna Disses Gaga? and Hydrangeas

Honestly, we kind of love it when Madonna has something to promote. This week, the 53-year-old has been pushing her (reportedly disastrous) film about Wallis Simpson and King Edward VIII, W.E., at the Venice Film Festival. And while she?s had plenty of explaining to do about the film?s white-washing of its subjects? well-documented Nazi sympathies, Madonna has still made time to take a dig or two at current chart-topping provocateur Lady Gaga.

According to the Belgian magazine Le Soir, when asked about Gaga ? and, presumably, Gaga?s frequent aping of Madonna?s early sound and style ? the older star said, ?As for Lady Gaga, I have no comment on her obsessions related to me, because I do not know if it is based in something profound or superficial.? For future reference, Madge, a simple ?No comment? will do!

Madonna?s spokesperson, Liz Rosenberg, has denied the accuracy of the quote. But she couldn?t stop the proliferation of another hilariously diva-esque statement that Madonna made, on video, after being given a flower by a seemingly ardent fan. Channeling her Material Girl persona, the star accepted the bloom and then appeared to set it on the floor, whispering, ?I absolutely loathe hydrangeas. He obviously doesn?t know that.? It?s okay, Madonna. Now everyone does.
